Blower Fan stays on even after car is off and key is out.
Last month my blower would not turn off. I replaced the Final Stage Resistor and it fixed the problem. Now my fan is stuck on again.....any Ideas? Is it possible that the Final Stage Resistor went bad again?
FYI, its a 2001 X5. The fan speed is constant and does not change regardless of how I set it. The only way I can get the fan to shut off is by removing the final stage resistor. As soon as I re-connect it, the fan comes back on. Thanks in advance. |
do u have your aux ventilation set? its an option if u have a navi screen in there..

I tried another final stage resistor and everything is back to normal and working correctly.
So......new question. Any idea on why my last final stage resistor lasted less than 1 month? Could something be wrong with the electronics in the car causing the resistor to fail so quickly? |
Check the connectors in the plug to the resistor. I've seen these get a hair of extra slack in the round pin connectors that adds resistance, which adds heat.

You can buy them on fleabay if you want. Its located on a left hand drive car to the rear of the glove box on the left.

I'm having the same issue where air blows out of the vents with the car shut off. The climate control panel is also dark and inoperable. I just replace the FSU and symptoms still exist. I pulled out the fuse to save the battery. But any other ideas on what can be causing to blower to constantly blow even with the car shut off.

If your HVAC panel is dark you must have a bigger issue. I would not use New Country BMW unless they have changed ownership since I last used them (2005) as they have no idea of any aspect of service except the billing component. They could not even fully use the GT1 BMW service computer.

ZULU do you have any suggestions on what the bigger issue can be? I cant seem to troubleshoot this problem.
