Window Malfunction Question

My front passenger window got stuck down yesterday. After a few tries it made a slight popping noise before rolling up like normal. I assumed (hoped) that something had fallen in it's track and that all was normal, but when I returned home and started experimenting with it, it got stuck down again and won't close.

Looking from the top, the glass appears to be in line and I won't have a chance to open the door panel until this weekend. Have any of you had this happen? My rear passenger cable broke before, but this seems different because the window will move up and down 1/4" and closed completely once after being stuck.

:dunno:
Thanks,

:welcome: to the world of broken window regulators. It is a very common problem and I have had three out of four replaced. You usually hear a pop, then the window drops and you're done like dinner. Time for a new regulator.

I slammed the door and tried again yesterday because it started raining and after slamming the door shut it rolled up. Do you guys still think it's the regulator? I'm going to open up the door panel tomorrow, but I still want thoughts in case I get it open and there isn't any apparent problem.

Very likely that it's a bad window regulator. If it's one of the front windows then there are actually 2 cable assemblies that guide the window up and down, which is probably why you have temporary use of the window. But in a short time frame it will all come unraveled and you will have to have the unit replaced.

If you are out of warranty then there is a DIY on how to do this on the main page in the INTERIOR section.

:goodluck:
