How exactly do you....?
polish the standard metal exhaust tips..i know there was a forum on this.
http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...t-tip-fix.html so how do u wet sand? and how badly could i mess this up? |
"Started with 80 grit then 400, 800, 1200 and 2000. Finished with metal polish."
Wet Sand, wet the sand paper and the surface you are sanding, keep them wet. the only way you can really mess it up is if you dont take your time. if you rush, it wont come out right and you will most likey scratch the finish of the pipes. post some pics when your done. Good Luck. |
perfect...thanks i'm about to leave for the hardware store now...

Switch the direction you sand by 90* every time you switch to the next highest grit. You are trying to eliminate the scratches you made before on the last grit.
|
Unless there are serious scuffs, no need for sanding, the metal polish will work just fine.
If you do wetsand, dont start with 80, thats too rough. |
alright after two hours of two people working on it i finally finished. Its too dark to take pics now, but i will post them up tomorrow. It came out great. the 80 was not too rough actually. but this did take longer than i thought. my hands are sore, but my tailpipes shine haha
