What is this box?

I am in the process of repairing electronics after a flood of the battery area and DSP amp area of our 2001 X5 with DSP and with a Mark 3 Nav .

What is the small white electronic box to the rear of the battery and to the rear of the radio, it has 3 cables attached to it?

Can you help ID this box?

Need a picture to help.

Pics would help, part numbers would make for a definite ID. Might be the trailer module if you have the hitch installed.

2 Attachment(s)
The part number is: BMW 66.21-4 124 215

Stamped on it is: PDC 12v

I am wondering if this might be the power door lock controller.

Here are photos, this box is located rearmost from the battery in the battery well under a plastic cover which you have to remove to see this box. These photos show the radio removed, the radio location is between this box and the battery.

youll need to floor it to 88 before you really see it work

That would be good news Weasel, the PDC is still working.

Do you know where the door lock module is located?

Weasel 04-25-2009 07:45 PM

The locking and alarm functions are part of the general module which is under the dash I believe. That wouldn't have gotten wet with the spill in the rear.

Thanks Weasel!

After I sent the last message I noticed that I forgot to thank you for your help....THANK YOU!

So far, I THINK the only thing that got ruined is the DSP Amp.

I think the radio is OK but don't know for sure. Everything appears normal on the dash, it will still tune and switch between AM & FM but there is No Sound.

Do you think the radio modes would switch like this if the radio was fried?

I am trying to figure this stuff out in case the insurance does not cover it.

Do you know if there is a separate fuse just for the DSP Amp?

Weasel 04-25-2009 08:53 PM

I think there are even fuses on the amp as well as more in the fuse boxes. I don't remember the exact locations, but there is a link on the page top for "online WDS" where you can look up the schematics for the systems.
