Telescopic Steering Wheel Adjustment

I have a 2002 X5 with 112K miles and just noticed my steering wheel adjustment is no longer functioning correctly. I can no longer move the steering wheel up and down, horizontally, although the "forward and back" adjustments still function properly. Is this possibly a fuse or relay that's gone bad or does the motor in it's entirety need to be replaced? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Have you figured this out? I am having the same problem, the Wheel will only slightly move up and down and it no longer moves up when the key is removed.

the drivers seat switch unit controls this, try supplying power to the motor, and see if it works, if it does, you'll either need a new steering column switch or seat module.

Thats correct, my telescoping never works anymore either. It is a faulty memory module on the drivers seat. I'm the only one who drives the car, so I figured I would forgo the 300+ dollars to fix and leave it where its at.
