STEERING PULL ?????

Hi guys ive just put some 22" rims on my x and now seem to have a slight pull to the left ??? ive done the tracking, checked for camber adjustment on the front (you cant adjust) any one had this problem or have any ideas ????? please help:dunno:

did you get wider tires than you had before?

it could very easily be the larger contact patch you are noticing. People who go from 255's to 315's notice this as well.

Yes the wheels are bigger but only gone from 285 to 315 and the pull is there even when driving on opposite camber ???? its really stressing me out

If you have had the camber checked on the car that it is fine. Going to a wider tire will result in a different road feel, IMO, that is what you have.

get an alignment

front camber is adjustable , you need special tool on strut towers .

AARONS AUTOS 05-01-2009 06:37 PM

what is this special tool and how do you do it ???? ive looked and i cant see any kind of adjustment on the strut or the lower arms ?? :dunno:

amacman 05-01-2009 07:23 PM

it`s in the bentley manual , i`m too busy to look it up now , maybe sat or sun .

bmw special tool 33 3 140 fits over inboard strut top nut and onto top of strut when protective cover removed , you could possibly adjust without tool if you slacken the 3 top mount nuts but don`t tell anyone that i recommended that .

I really need some help with this too. My pulls to the left though. Its been to the dealer 4 times and I have gotten 2 alignments and re balanced the wheels within the past 3 weeks. There isn't any noise just a pull. I lowered it in April with no probs until now. I even had the dealer take out the rear ride height sensors rods and lower it with the computer and stock rods.

Can you guys help? Brand new control arms and swaybar links too if that matters. Dealer said the tie rods are fine.

Maybe the wheel has an error. If it was a steel wheel, you can get it fixed but not too sure about alloys:dunno:

:iagree: going bigger in tire size especially up to 22's the road is going to feel different and your steering wheel will pull to the right or left depending on how uneven the road surface is (bumps, grooves in the road that you can't really see, but you they are there, trust me).

Does it pull on the freeway? I say freeway because i'm assuming thats the most even flat road you can drive on usually..usually, at least around here it is..
