I became an x5 driver by accident

It was a Sunday morning of December 2003. The day before the family and i had returned from a trip to europe. I was tired but the wife wanted to go see the progress on the house construction. I said that i was tired and would stay home with the kids. Less than five minutes the phone rings and my wife said she had slid of the road into a ditch .. .... she said she was okay and had called the police. I put the kids in the back of my chrysler and drove 100 meters down the road and found the pics below.
After the accident i decided that maybe my wife needed a very safe car. I travelled an hour south to the bmw dealer and bought a x5 on the spot. The next day the family and i drove down again to pick up the x5... I offered to put the car seats in the x5 but my wife said why don't i just drive it home. The road home is by no means a smooth one, that is untill i drove the x5. Maybe it was just the euphoria of a new car but i couldn't find myself driving anything else. When we arrived home i got down on one knee(first time ever) and asked if i could keep the car. IT WORKED |
Great photos and story! Glad to know your wife is OK, as well.
I am convinced of the BMW's safety, and feel very comfortable in it. Of course, like mentioned in another thread, if you don't wear your seatbelt, your safety is compromised regardless. Likewise, even in a POS, if you are restrained, it improves your chances dramatically. |
Those are scary pics. Seems like trying to get out of ditch the truck went upside down. Glad that your wife is OK.
:welcome: to X5 World. |
Dang! A rollover like that must be scary as hell. I'm glad that it all ended well. The X5 is an awesome vehicle and you will feel very confident in its handling and stability. Not that you need the reassurance but check out the IIHS crash test ratings for the X5.

Just followed the crash test link and now I know for sure I made the right move from my Audi A6 to the BMW. The audi got a A acceptable rating, the BMW gets G, good. I also cant see myself driving anything else for quite some time (although I hear the new Audi SUV will be good).

:welcome: Congrats on the X, you won't regret buying a BMW
