"Stop! Engine Oilpressure'' message
 

Guys,

I have a 2002 Range TD6 diesel. It has the same engine as an E53 X5 3.0d.
I'm having the following problem with my car and I'm wondering if any of you guys have had this problem too? And wether you guys have some ideas.

When I brake and the car is almost standing still the red oil can on the dash board lights up and on the info display it says ''Stop! Engine Oilpress''. It keeps saying this when I'm standing still in D, foot on the brake. The moment I even touch the gas it disappears.

I just changed my oil to make sure that isn't the problem. Oil level is perfect.

Could be a faulty oil pressure sender switch.
Connect an oil pressure tester and check what oil pressure you getting at idle.
Increase the idle and see if the light stays off.
Sludge buildup in the engine will also cause similar symptoms.

Is there a how-to on how to messure the oil pressure?

And about the sludge: are there any fluids on the market I could put in the engine to ''clean'' it?

combat sludge via regular oil changes and doing them when the engine is warm. just dont burn yourself.

You have to remove the pressure sending unit and screw in the pressure tester

Check if your local autoparts store has one to loan.
I would pull the oil pan and that should tell me if there is sludge and the oil pump screen is clean. Try "Seafoaming" before an oil change.
Also try a different oil viscosity and see if that helps.
