4.6 body kit

So, the only option I have is $900 for a for 4.6 body kit?

jst2878 05-07-2009 11:53 AM

look for used one on ebay for a lot cheaper

fmugur 05-07-2009 12:11 PM

Please give me a hint how to find it. I have been looking for a year now and never found one. I might have not searched for the proper words. Help me with a link please.

X5driver214 05-07-2009 12:35 PM

I waited about 1 and a half years to get my 4.6 kit. I got it used from a member parting out his car. You have to be on top of it and as soon as someone is ready to sell just ask for his paypal address and send payment. There a lot of members just like you out there.

fmugur 06-11-2009 12:24 PM

I just got mine from Morristown a week ago where is the cheapest I could find although I find it very expensive for what it is. BMW raised their prices because the demand. They don't ship to Canada though but you can have it shipped to an US address close to the border somewhere and go pick it up as I did. Use this email for contact: [email protected]. It was $825+$75 shipping.

I've bought a bunch of parts from him too. He and his manager run the internet portion of the biz for Open Road (but are part of Morristown BMW parts). The website email address almost never gets responded, but Rishon's always responded accordingly.

mtX5 06-15-2009 12:55 PM

still awaiting a reply from him..

I'm down as well. BTW, I have a 2006 4.4i. I just purchased the extended wheel arches from Richon so he should still be there.

mtX5 06-16-2009 12:52 AM

still no reply.. maybe they don't want to? we should try it somewhere else

nra0707 06-16-2009 09:40 AM

i would send an email to mike dossantos. I've dealt with him more than Rishon and I think he's his manager. Mike was always been courteous and responsive and would forward many of my price quotes and order requests to Rishon for immediate response.

Meet our friendly BMW staff at BMW of MORRISTOWN

mtX5 06-16-2009 10:25 AM

arite ill send out another email. thanks

mtX5 06-20-2009 12:08 AM

here is the reply:

hi,

as you probably know 825.00 is a killer price. shipping will not be able to be discounted as combining everything will need a freight company which costs more. but if you get 4 or more ppl to buy the kit all at once. i can drop the total price by 50$

so 850 will be the price for each shipped for 4 or more people

if you get 8 or more i can drop by 75 to make is 825 each set.

contact me if and when you are interested and i can send invoice to various people through paypal. thank you.

not that great of a price :( ..

iMPAKT 06-20-2009 12:17 AM

There's a guy on the uk ebay selling repilca kits ....

Zeka93 06-21-2009 08:48 PM

I email to this guy in UK, and sak about 4.6 kit replica here is what I got

Hello. For BMW x5 4.6 fornt and rear spoiler cost - 350 euro and shipping 100 euro. If you plan by 10 or more, it will be 290 euro per one kit (fornt and rear).
Best reagards, Deniss.

So if u work out todays currency 390 euro = 543us shipped for replica
what do u guys think?

fmugur 06-21-2009 09:47 PM

I would have... but I just got mine a few weeks ago. :( that's actualy awesome. it looks like this kit comes with the arches 6pcs.

mtX5 06-21-2009 11:31 PM

the replica kit sounds fairly priced..as long as its the 4.6 kit to fit pre-facelift. especially good price for the group buy rate..

Aftermarket Fiberglass; NO!
Factory ABS: YES!

(I think the price is too close to settle for fiberglass reproductions).

If you are talking about a group buy at a discount, let me know how much for the rear w/ the extended wheel arches.... (or maybe someone here only wants the front spoiler, and I could take the rear apron and the F/Fs)

Weasel 06-24-2009 07:30 PM

The OEM material is a really nice fitting and nice finished injection moulded polymer plastic (probably either ABS, PP or PE).

The fiberglass usually doesn't look just right (wavy finish), doesn't fit just right, and will crack from any flexing or impacts. Just a completely inferior material for front and rear bupmers.

I wouldn't put fiberglass bumpers on my X5 if they were free... and that is coming from past experiences of myself and numerous friends. I've never really seen someone fully satisfied with a fiberglass bumper come to think of it.

mtX5 06-24-2009 10:16 PM

thanks weasel! guess its back to square one..

Is this for both the front and rear 4.8is bumper pieces? Any idea on what the cost to ship to the USA might be?

Morristown had quoted me the following for the 4.8is bumper:

51-12-7-062-601 SUPPORT REAR BUM $275.00
51-12-7-062-599 SUPPORT COVER, L $125.00
51-12-7-062-600 SUPPORT COVER, R $125.00

Front replica 4.8 whole bumper cost close to 400$ there. Which is nothing compare to US prices :-) Plus you can paint it there pretty cheap, compare to US,as labor cheap there. have no idea about shipping, but my guess is 200$ for everything.

Zeka93 07-02-2009 09:32 PM

thanks (spasibo bratan) sobi6111 for the info on the kit they did reply to me but not with the cost, they need it my address for shipping, my guess
they will get back to me with the total tomorrow sometimes, the only thing I am out of Canada so shipping to US should be around the same or $50 more or less.
I also ask them to give me group discount if we go ahead and get maybe 15 to 20 guys to buy it, see what they will say.

по цене -

передний спойлер 114eur (165usd) - frotn spoiler
задний спойлер 128eur (185usd) - rear spoiler
доставка 228eur (330usd) - delivery
всего 680usd - total to US

если нужна покраска - то это примерно по 100usd за каждый спойлер

Zeka93 07-03-2009 03:48 AM

this is what I got from them

the normal price for this set is
200eur (290USD) for the front add-on
129eur (184USD) for the rear add-on
if you order one set - the delivery by UPS takes about 220eur (319USD). I can serch for other companies but I don't think that the price will be less then 200eur (290USD)
so total 459eur (665USD) per set with delivery

if you will take 20sets at once
we can make the price
120eur (174USD) front
90eur (130USD) rear
and the delivery price will be about 580eur (841USD) by UPS.
total 4200eur (6090USD) for all or 210eur (304.5USD) per one set with delivery

I recently got a '05 3.0i and would be very interested in getting this kit. Not sure exactly what kit will fit though.. Any input would be awesome. Will the 4.8 kit fit this x5? How much modification is required? Thanks!

guys, nobody is really the 'leader' of the group buy so someone has to step up (alot of people saying i'm in lol). I did contact morristown awhile back but they did not give much of a discount so it wasn't a good deal. The set going for $300 is NOT the same OEM set.. it is a fiberglass replica. Some have said that material is not durable and not worth it.

RPX5 08-28-2009 12:23 AM

Fiberglass WILL crack.. especially in the winter here in Boston. I often see cheesy honda civics with fiberglass body kits all cracked up and looking ridiculous.. if the $300 kit is fiberglass.. im out :thumbdown

TheGodfather 08-28-2009 12:15 PM

will the fiberglass really be that bad?

the kit is not large, just small thin pieces, that probably don't flex much while on the vehicle.

RPX5 08-28-2009 01:09 PM

Especially if someone like Weasel says that he wouldn't install a fiberglass body kit if it were free, they must be pretty bad.

DONONE69 04-21-2010 06:16 AM

did anyone end up hetting the fibreglass kit?

LIONEL1234554321 04-25-2010 09:58 AM
