Does my X5 need an alignment?

2005 X5 3.0

My steering wheel isslightly turned clockwise when going straight. Dealer says I probably went over a pothole and it needs alignment which will cost $200. Is this about the ongoing rate? Is this a necessary fix?

If you have no issues driving like then no but for me alignment was always a must. It really affects a lot on the vehicles handling. Also right now my X needs an alignment and every time I would hit a bump, my X would jerk a little to the right. You will feel a big difference when you're X gets aligned.

I've always done my alignment done at Pepboys for $100 with a 1 year warranty as long as I keep the same wheels on them when I go back for another alignment.

FWIW, I also go to Pep Boys for alignments and have been pleased so far.

don't know if is is available in your area, but firestone recently had a lifetime alignment deal for $169... where ever you go, its good to check the printout when their done.
