Apline MRP-M350 question.... or Issue lol
So I built the subwoofer box that is all over this site to replace the existing weak subs.... Used the Pioneer Sub TS-SW251 and the Alpine Amp MRP-M350
I have the amp all stuffed in the left side next to the exsisting amp etc. everything was working fine for 2 days, then one night about 1 am I was driving home and the sub stopped playing music.... This morning I look at all the fuses, connections, power light on amp, subwoofer connections etc. All check out ok When I start up the car or give the amp power initially, the sub makes a pop noise (likes its about to hit for a song/note etc) then thats it, nothing else.... ANY IDEAS.... Is the amp dead or do you think it's the sub.... On the amp, I have the gain at half, been at half the whole time. Thanks Michael |
Michael, do you have sound from the rest of the speakers? Is it only the sub not working?
If yes, I suggest u check the connections one by one as follows: - Cables going to the sub - The tapping on the OEM amp plug (u should have four cables/connections to check) - Speaker level input or RCA input going to the Alpine - The remote power cable going to the Alpine - The main power cable going to the Alpine - and finally the ground. Bad grounding can make no sound even if the amp is showing the ON blue light. Good luck! |
Ok, took it down to a local stereo shop and he hooked up an ohm meter and he says my Sub is only registering .5 ohms.... when it's a 4 ohm sub right? He is thinking the sub is blown. He thinks the alpine amp see's it's only .5 ohms and shutdowns.
Your thoughts? |
Then u should connect another sub and check if it works or not ... this is the simple way to know what's wrong
