Pulled the boat out today. 6900lbs
Just recently pulled the boat out of the water. At 6900pounds i wasnt exactly sure what the hell was going to happen. But, like always, the x pulled through and towed her like a champ. Now i just need to give the boat a nice wax and do all the engine maint, I also took off the rims because my tires dont have enough tread and hyroplaning was starting to become an issue.

Call me crazy, but I think your X looks badazz with the Type 58 shoes!

thanks just the basic 18's i use for my winter setup. Nitto 404 is not the best winter tire but it gets the job done, and great for the dry days.

as a side...
Being a unibody, the X5 has other issues when towing then the typical frame-based vehicle. For example, an F150 will stress at the tranny w/ max tow load where the X5 will stress at every hitch-to-quarter pannel connect point. At 6900lbs your at 115% max load so nothing to worry about; but in theory you could rip an X5 appart with enough load..
That said, I think the X5 may have been the first unibody to support 6000lbs - and that's awesome (also explains why the hitch is a nightmare install;) ). Josh |
Is that 22" on your fender photoshop or actually on the body?

that was on there but then i took it off.
Just a custom decal from signs now |
Very nice to see X5 pull. Withidl pulled a 8900lbs airstream I will putting my 4.8is towing capabilities to test soon.
What speed do you drive at while towing? |
