Pic's after droppin' the X

Thought I would show the results of the H&R kit install after getting so much advice from you guys. Its a 02 4.4i SPG w/air.
Front I know its on a hill but the front height barely changes with the level of the ground. The springs are stiffer and smoother amazingly. My ride quality increased much more than I thought. Reduced corner lean and no more sinking forward or rebound when braking. Maybe the stock springs were going bad, but they seemed fine and look fine (70k miles). The springs took about 10 minutes per wheel (lift, airgun, spring compressor used). Cut that pad/bushing thing in half with a razor blade when you have the strut out too! The front dropped more than 1.2" like the kit says. More like 2" I would say. Rear The rear couldn't have been easier. It can be done with a jack in your driveway. Each wheel took less than 5 minutes. Lowering the rear with air takes a total of 5 to 10 minutes, requires a 10mm and 11mm wrench, and can be adjusted whenever you want as easily as loosening and tightening the nut. The hard part is getting them equal. My right is just a tad higher still. I'm going down another 1 or 1.5 this weekend. The kit says 1 inch in the back. BS! At the lowest setting the link allows, I had the thing almost tucking wheel. Problem is; I couldn't find lower springs. I wanted to slam it. The instructions say use a micrometer and set to 65mm. I went with 63.2mm. I forgot what stock is. I will measure this weekend. I might cut the fronts, but not sure if thats smart.? The back is going down 1 turn each. The rear has 30mm H&R spacers and when I get the longer lug bolts I can finally put on the 15mm front spacers. Wheels are aftermarket 19x9 in the front and 19x10 in the back (came with it). In the future I see 22's (87's in Ferric Grey?) and the kit. Let me know what you guys think. |

Wow, you got the DT's or something ?? Their's more shakin' going down in your driveway than a crack house :wow: Have another go at the pics and while you're at it park it alongside a standard X so we can all see comparison wise  Your ride looks very nice, do it some justice  |

Love the H&R kit! I had the sport springs on my 2001 X and they were great. Ride quality seemed same as OEM and handling nicely improved. Looks are awesome congrats man!
Here are some shots of our old X5 on 22's with the H&R sport kit. Can't wait to do it to our new(ish) 2006. Anyone ever have problems with the dealer and CPO coverage when using lowering springs??? |
thanks for sharing. that X is pretty slammed bro. looks wicked.
now just get yourself some aftermarket headlights and you'll be pimpin "fo sho" ;) |
