Ceramic Pads Posi

Has anyone used these ceramic pads. I just did a break job with rotors and semi metallic pads and they sound like sh......t. So I am looking at changing the pads out.

Any thoughts?????? Anyone used them?

I have them on the front of our '02 3.0 with slotted rotors -- no squeaks and not too much brake dust. Pretty satisfied.

I just did my front pads (oem), bedded them in but they continued to squeal for 2 weeks. They've settled down now and are whisper quiet albeit with the usual 1/2 kilo of brake pad deposit every other day. Did you bed them in properly ?? How many days ago did you do the job ??

Sounds a bit like you're doing your research after completing the job instead of the other way round.

From researching here I believe that Axxis pads:http://www.zeckhausen.com/BMW/X5.htm are the best alternative to oem for less dust and near same stopping power/ability.

Interested to see how you get on with your prob. GL

Axxis ultimates are amazing but not dustless. not a fan of organic.

X Foomph, I hate to say it but you are right. I did the research but found a deal on eBay two hard to pass. I did the brake job last Saturday. I bedded the brakes on two different days. I have probably driven 100miles or so. the squeal so bad I am embarrassed to drive the damn car, espically at stop signs and signals

So that's just 1 week, maybe hold out for another week during which try and squeeze in a couple of hours of twisty driving with a good dose of braking. Just hang in there, hopefully they'll come good.

I'm feeling you with the 'pulling up at stop signs n signals'. Other drivers could hear me coming and were seen frowning with dismay as I pulled up alongside, very embarrassing.

The squealing is not normally stopped by anti-squeal grease. We call it 'copper slip' over here. It's a grease with copper in it. I was always told to put the copper slip between any metal surfaces that rub together on the brakes. Ie, where the metal back of the pads rubs in the caliper and where the anti squeal shim rubs on the caliper.

In my experience this has always stopped the squeal. I need to do this on my X which has squealed a bit since I got it 3 weeks ago.

Is copper slip something you can get at a regular parts store or do I have to special orser this stuff. I always thought thermal grease does the job

It's something you can get at any parts store over here. Knowing how much better your parts stores are than ours, you should find it no problems.

When you look at it, it looks like a tube of gold paste.
