30 sec Transmission Reset

Can someone please outline the use of this method? I would like to employ it, but unless I fully understand its intentions I am scared to do it.

What is the appropriate situation to employ this? What does it exactly do? Is it a routine, regular thing that should be done, or does it fix problems permanently?

I was in sport mode in my 4.8is, and it literally stayed at 4k rpm for 10 seconds without shifting (i wasn't paying attention to speed or gear selection). Will this reset solve this problem?

Turn the key on leaving engine off and press the gas pedal all the way down past the downshift click point and hold it for about 30 seconds. After that the shifting adaptations should be reset and will re-learn to your driving style when you drive it again.

I thought this was only a throttle adaptation reset? :dunno: May be this method resets both throttle and shift points?

Has solved the harsh 1-2 and 2-1 shift for me where reprogramming did not.
Had to reset it again few weeks ago - about 6-9 months since the last reset.

Doesn't sound like you have the same problem - if what you describe even is a problem. Sounds like the sports mode was doing what it is designed to do - hold at lower gear or higher rpm for longer when you hit it with the right foot.

Yea sounds like what you are saying might be normal. I was driving in sport today in 4.4i and it held rpm at 4000 for a while so i could just hammer it and go.

Hmm... If I do this reset, the throttle will adapt to my driving style? I haven't reset mine yet eversince I got it in April. Do you recommend doing this?

I have tried this several times and felt no difference at all

I tried this method as well and felt no difference at all, but when had my truck in eht shop decided to clear the trans adaptations and throttle adaptations through the GT1 and felt tremendous benefits. It felt like I did a performance upgrade programming!
