Reset/Clear Key Memory
I bought a used X5 and I was using 1 key until I read here, that the keys automatically recharge, so now I was switching between the 2 keys. But the second key had the "key memory" programmed. I hit unlock and the seat, mirrors, etc settings change. Is there a way to clear this without bringing it to the dealer? I could deal with just the seat, mirrors and steering wheel not moving. Are these setting tied to one of the Memory buttons on the drivers seat?
Thanks. |
Bingo, Just program the seats, steering wheel, and mirrors to your liking on both keys and you should not have a problem.

no, just the buttons on the side of the seat. When you get in the car and program the seat to your liking and save it as a preset on the side of the seat, it stores that info. Now when that key is used again, it brings up any stored presets relative to that particular key. That includes mirrors, seats, radio, climate, steering wheels, etc. There is no need to go to the dealer.

Thanks... Sorry just didn't click at first. I was thinking that the key was set to one of the seats memory positions and must have been setting them to the 1st key only. haha
Thanks Again. |
Your key will return the seat, etc to the position they were in when the key was last used to lock the car. So, get in and adjust everything then lock it and you'll be all set.
The keys do not associate with the memory presets on the side of the seat. |
