LOWERING THE X, CAN ANYONE POST PIX OF THEIR LOWERED X?

1 Attachment(s)

Hey guys, im thinking of lowering my 04 4.4i X and I wasn't too sure if its a good idea or not, would I lose power, will it be a stiff ride??? I dont know plus I would really appreciate if you guys could put some pics of your lowered X so I would have an idea. Im basically looking for the advantage and disadvantages of this upgrade.
Thanx in advance.

mrbmwx5 06-09-2009 05:57 PM

Why you think it will lose power??????
After i lowered mine i love the look of it and the handling is very stiff due to lower plus the bilstein HD shocks i have.

A mild drop doesn't hurt. I'll be lowering mine on H&R or B&G springs on stock shocks. Where's the DIY?!?! :D

abtin1198 06-09-2009 06:14 PM

what do i exactly need to lower the x? what type of H&R kit?

JayX5 06-09-2009 06:17 PM

Do you have rear air ride suspension? If so, you need lowering springs up front and adjustable suspension links in the back. ie. B&G front springs and links from jlevisw in the back

sexy looking car rich, looks great. im going to get some prices here in toronto to see how much itll cost me. thnx for the pic.

Hit Redline 06-09-2009 11:23 PM

I think Rich has the adjustable air suspension front and back with an intrax module allowing him to go lower than then BMW stock system. Your set up is going to need to be like MrBMW. Front Springs and endlinks. Or you can have the dealer reset the rear height as I am sure you have rear air.

I am currently collecting all the items I need to lower my X.

Have:
B&G front springs $215 (ebay)
custom end links from forum member $60 or $70 cant remember
Dinan Camber Plates $190 ebay

Need:
Front Struts $230 each
Rear shocks ??

Indy install with 4 wheel alignment $750

So I figure around $1500 give take a few Hundo's

Cheaper if you tackle yourself

Here is a pic of the end links

My bad. Guess he's not called Richirich for nothing.

You are on 4 springs? So you don't have self leveling or did you remove?

mrbmwx5 06-09-2009 11:36 PM

Redline! I don't have self leveling

Hit Redline 06-09-2009 11:39 PM

I thought all the V8 X5 has self leveling. You have a 4.4 or 4.6?

The end links I posted are adjustable. I think a maximum of a 2" drop.

bluejazzer 06-30-2009 02:22 PM

Mines lowered. It was like that when i bought it. To be honest i wish i could put it back up again cos it feels small!!!! I like to be up in the clouds and towering above everybody!!!!!

shooter 07-07-2009 05:15 PM

I used the H&R kit with the end links for rear air suspension. They make 2 kits. One with two springs and 2 links, and the other comes with 4 springs I believe. I think it ran me ran me $285 with shipping. Very easy to install as long as you have a spring compressor. Here's the thread I started with pics after droppin mine http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...droppin-x.html
I also have 30mm spacers on the back wheels. Sorry about the pics that were taken with my phone.
