How to Change the Ballast
 

Dear all,

i have a problem with the bixenon lights on my 06 X5 3.0i, the xenon lights can not start, I exchanged the bulb and the igniter on the other side, they all worked well, so i judge that the problem is with the ballast, I can open the lights assembly to change the igniter and the bulb, i also can see the ballast is under the light assembly, i searched around but have no way to disassemble the ballast, did anyone share this experience to change the ballast?

here i found some drawing of the lights of BMW 7 series, could anybody tell me where to find the disassembly drawing like the photos?

i'm assuming you have a facelift x5 because of the bi-xenons.. in that case you will need to remove the bumper to get to remove the headlight. i don't have a facelift so i can't really give you details..

Dear mtX5, thank you very much for your help, today i spent 2 hours to disassemble the front bumper and remove the headlights assembly out, i exchanged with the other head lights, unfortunately the once bad hightlight xenon lights run well, there is no problem with the headlights assembly!!!! I guess this may be the wire problem, because except the xenon lights have problems on the driver side, the high beam, angel eyes all works well on this side, would you please help me judge which is the problem? is there an independent fuse for each xenon light? where is the location? from the glove box, i only find a general light system fuse, obviously this fuse has no problem.

wait i'm a little confused with what you did. so you switched your current headlight that you think is 'bad' for a different headlight, and it worked fine? if so did you change bulbs or ballast?

if it is not the bulb or ballast, i'm not too sure what else it could be. i am also currently struggling with my xenons and cannot find the issue, i changed the ballasts but it seems that was not the issue.

i mean that there is no problem with the light assembly, it may be due to the reason from the harness or the electrical scheme.

do you have the electrical scheme for the control of the light?
