Im sorry chilli but for 35k-40k you can get a E70 4.8 ... i seen R70 for as low as 33k

There's quite a difference between the E53 4.8iS & the E70 4.8i. If you've driven both, you'll know exactly what i'm talking about. Personally, i like the design of the 4.8iS better and i'm performance biased :D

The E53 4.8iS is the closest X5 to the new X5 ///M, in performance (till the TT E70 is released)...Well worth it IMO. ///Bruce, i say go for it

hey Tom, you are scaring me now... well, after the whole weekend discussing about the near future, i might trade in my E53 and get a 7-seater E70 (for the obvious and bold reason)... please tell me there is an exception... :(

yes i drovee them both. but its a matter of time for the E53 to look out dated....

4.8i might not be all that as the 4.8is but its there...

new body is very nice and you can make the E70 look very mean too.....

Not taking anything away from the 4.8i but to each his own...besides, it's all in the eyes of the beholder...i still get the same compliments that i did 4+ years ago. The "iS" models look aggressive stock, one doesn't have to spend thousands on kits to make it look more aggressive. IMO, i'd rather have a vehicle that can actually perform rather than look like it can. The OP mentioned that driving a 4.6iS left a lasting impression on him for a reason...and a 4.8iS would be icing on the cake :D

My point was that dealers recognize the value of the "iS" models, so they're asking for more than even the first year E70 4.8i.
