engine knocking noise
 

spoke with an indy and expalined my noise to him an he said it could be a valve or lifter...i will bring him the car on thurs. night and he will start it fri morning and give me his opinion...then it is going to dealer on mon. night so tech can listen tues. morning..i want the indy's opinion before so the dealer cant tell me it is NORMAL....it never did this noise until 2 weeks ago...what does everyone think..any input is appreciated...thanks rob

I'm new, so I may be off base, but do a search for VANOS. I'm going to rebuild mine next week, it doesn't look very complicated.

Also check here: Beisan Systems for details, or search on youtube for vanos to see if the sound is the same for you.
