Collecting data on bluetooth failures

Sorry to start a new thread on the bluetooth issue. However, I wanted to have one devoted to blue tooth failures and the possible reasons for failure. In my case, as indicated in a prior thread, I recently purchased a 2005 X5 4.4 with bluetooth. The bluetooth was working fine until I inadvertently drained the battery with a phone charger. I jump started the car, after which time the blue tooth no longer worked. At the dealer today, I was told that the module was dead, and would need to be replaced. They further indicated that the telecommunications module is known to be sensitive to power spikes, which may have happened with the jump start. In addition, I also noticed that some pixels on my radio display went out after the battery died and the car was jump started.

I'd like to collect information on how often this may happen. So, if you have had a bluetooth go out on you, or if you have lost pixels on your radio display, can you relate these events to a battery or a jump start problem? Any responses would be appreciated.

There is a special warranty on TCUs supplied on 2004-05 models. 10yr/100k. See if the recall was performed per sib 84-22-06.

Thanks so much for that, killcrap. I'll find out.

zachthefcr or anyone else,

Checking to see if you got yours replaced. Mine's been dead for a while (pulled the fuse) after I had the same symptoms.

I'm taking it in today for an oil change and I'm going to bring this up.

Thanks

Updating....TCU is bad and I can't get it covered per Killcrap's message. My SA said the SIB is either invalid now or has expired. Whatever that means. Is there anyway to find an archive of this SIB? I can't find it anywhere online.
