Belt Noise
 

Taking the 5 in for service in the morning and I wanted to know if I should add this to the list. I have an 02 x5 with 39k miles. As the weather gets cooler here in Philly, I have noticed that the first time I start her in the mornings I am getting a brief bit of belt whining, not long, about 20-30 seconds, but it did not happen when it was warm outside, and it does not happen when the car is warm, has anyone experienced this when it gets cold/cool out?

Yes, I have that cold/cool start belt whine...espc notice it when I first let out the clutch, add gas and climb over the crest of our steep driveway. I pointed it out to Stlr, (along with the wobbling fan drive/water pump; they did the R&R with rebuilt water pump, recently), but the "tech" said the belt was fine. Now, Maint&Warr are over, so it's on my list to get fixed by a privateer. GL,md
Edit: '01 w/47K...belt started whineing at 42ish...

This happened on my '02 as well. Turned out to be a bad idler wheel, which $tealer replaced under warranty.

Update:

Dealer has it now, asked if it should make any noise when cold, my fantastic SA says "Not unless something is wrong". This guy is great but BMW won't ever call so I can give this guy a fav rating.
