Scared The Hell Out Of Me

This morning I was driving to work on my usual route which is the Creek Turnpike in NE Oklahoma (Tulsa). You may have remembered seeing the news a few months ago about the Creek Turnpike sniper who was targeting SUVs on the turnpike. The sniper was taking shots from an overpass with a .22 rifle and targeting only SUVs. He hit about 10 trucks in a 2 month period. The sniper was never caught. So I am driving this morning in this area and all of a sudden out of the blue I hear this loud bang which came from the rear passenger door of my 2002 4.4i. All I could think of was " Oh sh*t I just got hit by the sniper". So I put it to the floor to put as much distance between me and the "sniper" as I could. Then suddenly I heard a hissing noise coming from the back followed by a great rush of wind. I looked back to see what was going on when I noticed the rear passenger window had fallen into the door. Then I breathed a sigh of relief. Its was only a damn window regulator blowing off its last breath of life. I had been spared from the sniper. Now I just need to get this fixed before it rains. (40% chance today) :D

Hissing Noise

The hissing noise is the wind generated sound you hear as the window starts dropping down at first.

I had not seen the news reports and so naively drove on this turnpike Thursday. After seeing this thread, when it was time to go back through Tulsa to get home I stayed on I-44.
