Quietest tires
 

I have 19 michelin diamaris. They have an incredible amount of road noise and seem to ride fairly harsh. All I want is the best riding and quietest 19 tire, handling is not of my greatest concern. Does anyone know of a better tire? Also my rear suspension seems to be riding lower than the norm and I do not think that it raises when I hook my boat up to the car. When the car was new I could remember days when I can back from the grocery store and when I unloaded the groceries the car would lower as I removed the weight. Any suggestions? :dunno:

All I can tell you is that the Pirelli Scorpion Zeros I have are probably even louder than your worn Diamaris. They are the older version and I only hope the newer versions are better. How many miles are on your Diamaris? I have heard that once they get old and low on tread they do get a little noisy. Try the Toyo STX's. I think those will be my next set.

Does Michelin still make the X3 tire? If so that tire was super quiet and wore well. I have a new 05 with the Ciamaris now and they seem OK so far @ 2000 miles. I had Toyo's on a Escalade and even at 42,000 miles they wore great and did not make any if much more noise.

The newer version (Pirelli Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico) seems to be quieter, but it is true that the all tires get noisy as they wear out. The Michelin Diamaris really got noisy after 50K miles! :wow:

I put my 19" Michelin Diamaris back on yesterday and, while I found them to be as quiet or quieter than my Michelin MXV4's, they definately grab road imperfections and pull the vehicle to one side or another much more so than the MXV4's.

Do other 19" tires do the same thing, or is this unique to the Diamaris because of its tread design? :dunno:

Wider tires and wheels will tramline more....However, the Pirelli Scorpion Zero seems to tramline less than the Michelin. However, I also did a 4-wheel alignment after the tire change so who knows?

I do agree the Diamaris were quieter than the MXV4 when the Diamaris are new, but as they wear out, they do get quite noisy (true of any tires).

WOW you get 50k out of your diamaris tires? I only got around 15k miles out of mine and don't drive that aggresively. I had them balanced and aligned every 6 months and checked tire pressure often. Hmm

I'm checking out the Toyo Proxes S/T as a possible next set of 19's.

My 20" Contis do the same tramlining.
Those Toyos have an unheard of 420 treadwear rating. I'll have a look at these when it's time to replace mine. :thumbup:
