2001 X5 Problems with "Rearend" i THINK

Hey folks- im perplexed here. My unit feels like its slipping a bit when i get on the gas hard now. The suspension inact- light was coming on and off and is now on solid. I checked the suspension links all the way around and find no damage. Any thoughts out there? I have a 4.4i w sports package. I dont have any issues shifting from 1 gear to the next if at normal speeds. this only occurs if i get after it a bit. its just started happening
TIA

You need to let us know how many miles, manual/auto etc...

What is your unit? your transmission?

What light was coming on?

Details please.

What light was coming on?-Suspension INACTIVE

Details please.
i still hear the compressor from time to time. The main problem is on a "quick" take off. I know i'm not getting something from the rearend. when i shift through gears using the "steptronic" or auto, i don't feel any slipping at all. I dont think its the tranny. It feels like something else.

thx again
