I notice you have the chrome gauge rings too, is that standard on the newer Xs ? or is it because you have the super duper deluxe package?

No, sucks, doesn't it? X5's are built in the States, but we can't get many of the options that are exported to other markets. When I ordered my '05, I wanted Nappa leather instead of the crappy Dakota leather comfort seats. I was more than willing to pay whatever BMW wanted to charge, but was told that Nappa leather was reserved for the 4.8is. I do mostly City driving, so a 4.8 was much more than I needed, and I was not willing to buy one just to get Nappa leather. I've driven BMW's for many, many years, but when it comes time to replace the X, BMWUSA's arrogance regarding USA option availability may just drive me to another brand.

Don't feel to bad, I think the only reason BMW offers a few different combo's is to make us Brits feel we are getting something for the extra 30 -40 % , we have to pay over the very competive US prices.
I just bought a new 05 3.0 and with the exchange rate at the momment I saved over $25,000 on the same spec UK car. :dunno: :) :dunno:

I guess BMW is loading the X up now with all the best goodies they have to offer, as the X5 replacement is not too far away.

It's their final shot at getting people who may be nervous about buying one now.With only 12-18 months before the all new X5 appears, sales usually start to decline in a model so they have to work harder to get punters to part with their hard earned cash.

Actually, I think all the new '06's (with Sp. package?) have the aluminum rings... they appear to be brushed (like the door pulls) as opposed to the shiny chrome variant that I picked up off eBay a few months ago. Anyone know a place to get a set of the brushed aluminum rings?
