Chicago-area Members: Help Please
 

My wife and I have been looking for an '04-06 X5 for some time now. Good X5's for a "reasonable" price are hard to find where we live, so we've expanded our search to include dealers in the Chicago area (approx. 500 miles from us).

Bill Jacobs has an '05 X5 4.4 (blue w/gray leather) with approx. 49k miles, currently asking about $24k (Link: http://bmw.billjacobsinventory.com/2....4i-c-1039.htm).

Do any of you happen to be familiar with this X5 (maybe even looked at/driven it)?

Any thoughts on Bill Jacobs or any other area dealers/sellers (including Chicago Cars Direct)?

I'm also wondering if any of you might be willing to help out a fellow member and take a look at this X5? I ask only because I assume there are a lot of people out there like me who are always looking for a good excuse to go check out cars on the lots!

BTW, some of you may have read or replied (thank you!) to a recent post of mine about two "local" X5s that we were considering. It turns out that one of those X5s (of course, the one we were strongly leaning towards) has had some rear-end damage, so we have cooled somewhat on that X5 and, as noted above, have geographically expanded our search.

I think that is a pretty good price and probably could bring them down a bit. Almost positive that has the sport pkg as well. I'm in Milwaukee and was at Intn'l Auto and they didn't have any 4.4's when I was there. Additionally, there is a place in Oconomowoc, WI that is called Auto Connectionz and they will go to the auction and get you what you want. They charge $1000 over what they paid at the auction and clean up costs....

also....check ebay. The prices will be inflated on there but you'll find some private parties and dealers that are close to you as well, you can work directly with them outside of ebay then.....along with autotrader, etc.

Bought my X5 from Bill Jacobs - I've been happy with the Service so far.

Thanks again for the responses. It looks like someone else put a deposit down on that particular X5 last night. Go figure- it sits on the lot for 90 days, then someone snatches it the day I call about it. :banghead:

That said, it seems like sellers in the Chicago area have many X5s that may work for us, so I may be back shortly with a new "target".

Got my 06 4.4 from Bill Jacobs. No frills, straight to the point. Drove 4 hours from Michigan after putting a deposit on it. No issues/concerns with the dealership.

Bought one of the two that was for sale locally. In looking at available X5s within 500-600 miles, it seemed like a deal we couldn't pass up. I was actually able to visit with the previous owners, which made us very comfortable. We're very excited, and I'm glad tomorrow is Saturday so I'll have lots of time to play!! :thumbup:
