2005 X5 Windows roll down by themselves
Ok I didn't search the manual, but I was polishing the wheels yesterday, the car was off but unlocked, it was hot in the garage. Suddenly the rear windows retracted half way and the front windows retracted all the way. Is this a feature or is something funky going on?
I am hoping it has a heat sensor and retracts the windows when it's hot. :dunno: |
This happens why you hold down the "unlock" button on your key. Your front windows go down, followed by the back windows, then the sunroof. It could be possible the keys were in your pocket and it was held down by something.

LOL.. welcome to the X5 world.
That freaked me out the 1st time it happened to me. Same scenario, i was cleaning the car, had the keys in ma pocket. I got a call on ma cell so I sat down to take it and ma windows started rolling down!!!! |
Yeah, I think most owners would be nonplussed if their X decided to roll down its own windows whenever it got hot. I'm guessing not too many people in Phoenix would be buying if that were the case. Although I do like your logic I have to agree with the two posts above.

Haha Thanks!!
Thanks everyone. I didn't know about that feature. I did have the keys in my pocket and that's what happened.
I'm learning new things about this vehicle all the time. By the time I get ready for a new one perhaps I'll know all the little tricks. |
There's a great thread if you do a search, "Hidden Features". Its a long read, but well worth it.
