**BLUETOOTH PAIRING ISSUE***2003/11 Vehicle With Factory Fitted BT Phone
I have 2003/11 Production facelift X5 with TV/NO NAV/ and Factory Phone in the middle with a SIM card slot. I also found the TCU in the rear and found the BT PASS KEY. The phone in my car tries to keep on CONNECTING but fails to CONNECT. I used my NOKIA E71 and iPhone to look for a bluetooth device; and it finds the vehicles TCU and when I pair it it Pairs but does not connect.
I DO NOT have the SPEAK button in the center console arm rest where I have the BMW Phone . Dealer says the Phone is bad and I need a new BMW PHONE but TCU is OK. So How do I pair my own phone without having to order a new PHONE from BMW? Any Help will be Great! |
Is the factory phone a MOTOROLA cordless? Then this the only one you can use... (I think)
Had a similar one and changed the TCU with a ULF (remover complete Motorola from the console), in order to use ANY BT phone I want |
it does look like a motorola....any idea how much is that phone?

The ULF you mean? It's a module, smaller than a TCU, about $550 new (less used from ebay) |

and the ULF if i install it on my vehicle, will it be plug and play or I need to recod and do more retrofit etc? |
Plug and play (except VOICE commands, which need to be recoded at a dealer)
Your question: How much is that phone? you mean what you get if you sell it? |

and also how do you pair after you install the ULF? just look for BT device from your phone and pair? or you needed to add a PAIRING button in the vehicle? Also the ULF sits right where the TCU is now and all wiring is same? Sorry for all the questions and thanks for your help Regards |
Something like this
BMW Genuine 13th Generation Bluetooth Module ULF New:eBay Motors (item 170130665054 end time Jul-31-09 14:16:05 PDT) or BMW X5 2000-2006 E53 BMW Bluetooth Kit for X5 1999-2006 E53 USA & (Euro 04/02-06) All questions can be answered here http://www.bimmernav.com/What_is_BMW_Bluetooth.html |
U don't have to get a ULF module. U can get a TCU that would work. Send a PM to Drew on here and he will be able to hook you up with a TCU for much less than a ULF. It just works the same. The new TCU pairs with the phone automatically when you start the car and transfers your phone book. U only have to pair it the first time. do a search on this forum and you will find a ton of info

by NEW you mean his TCU on the 2003-11 (facelift) ? Are you sure? There's NO PAIRING button on the version with a TCU and a Motorola cordless bluetooth headset... Have you done it? |
