What to do after car sit for 3 month withou driving???
 

So here is the thing,i am outside US for a summer break. In august 12th I will be back to US,butmy car will be by that time 3 month without driving.

So can i drive it with same oil,or dangerous?

What maintenance should i do after such a long sit without driving?

Assuming you have been "trickle charging" your battery, and it fires up fine,
I wouldn't give it much concern. We have left our '01 X5 for two of the past
four years for 5 months at a time,(and our '02 Vette in alternate years), with zero problems.

I do run a Battery Tender maintenance charger weekly, via an appliance timer,
but upon return all I do is reduce tire pressure to normal, make sure the mice
and critters did not get past my trays of mothballs, and fire the sumbitch up.

It starts fine, runs fine. I do add a full dose of Stabil to the gas before storing...
but, not a problem after the long "sleeps".

I am assuming the x5 will be garaged.

I agree with Motordave, the battery will likely be the big issue.

You may also have flat spots on the tires.

You should consider giving a set of keys to a friend to drive the x5 once a week for 20-30 minutes

If you didnt have a full tank of gas when you left the truck, that might be a concern because the gas might go bad for that amount of time sitting. In the future notice use Stabil in the tank if the truck is going to sit.

If it is a manual, chock the wheels do not use the emergency brake. Gas should be fine for 3 months. Use a trickle charger if you can, or disconnect the battery completely. Try and put it up dry, if it is wet try and get a hairdryer to the brake rotors and pads to make sure they are dry. Some sort of de-humidifier is a bonus, also put the windows down a fraction if it is inside.

I have left cars longer periods (over 6 months) with few problems. Main problems have been the brakes getting stucking on (which also came free with enough gas, but I buggered the rotors a couple of times). Condensation in the car making it thoroughly horrible and needing a good clean. I never had a problem with fuel and always disconnected the battery.

Car is being garaged,not outside. For battery i have gotten a BMW charger though lighter socket,should be fie if i leave overnight and start it up in themorning. The thing is the oil it has i have about 2000 mile son it or so ,plus it sits for 3 month. So can i drive with that oil for a day at least or i should change it before drivign anywhere? Should i service anything like fluid or something? All maintenance is up to date,just this pretty long sit without driving. Will my tires be flat when i arrive to see my car? Any ideas?

Should be absolutely fine, I had mineral oil in my cars when I left them and never had a problem, with synthetic there is nothing to worry about. I would just check tire pressures and fluids and then enjoy the thing. Whether or not the tires will be flat depends on whether or not you have any air leaks, if the pressures were not going down in regular driving then they should maintain pressure fine.

Should have added, let the car warm up before driving or putting in gear, if it does not move when you stick it in gear your pads are stuck to your rotors. You can "Power Release" them carefully, use reverse gear if possible. Then when you start driving you may find they vibrate a lot. This may or may not go after about 30 miles. Try gentle braking to start with and plan on visiting a good brake place.

I've parked mine for two 5 month "seasons" and our ol'X has never batted an eye...
