Noise when idle and pick up.
I took my 02 E53 to the mechanic and I was told that I need to convert my mechanic tensioner to hydraulic cuz BMW no longer makes part for the mechanical. Is this true?
How much can a job like this cost me including tensioner and belts?. Cabin filter is it the same as the microfilter? or if you would know how much it cost? what is an idle pulley? is it the same as the adjusting pulley? Thanks for you mechanical help. Ric |
He is correct, we swap them all to the hydrolic when changing them now, which is a better design, and after this is done you can change just the pulley in the future.
The cabin filter is the microfilter. The idler pulley is the one that is held on with the alternator bolt that just holds the belt in place. (for proper contact path with alternator etc.) As for prices, I can't help you... But I'm sure some people will be able to chime in. |
If you have an X5 3.0i like mine you still in luck to get the mechanical belt tensioner P/N 11 28 1 427 252

if you want the complete kit, and both belts which includes idler pully, hydraulic tensioner and caps, and hardware, i can get them to you for $200 shipped.

the microfilter will cost you around $30-$40. It's a very simple job to do yourself.

Belt tensioner was the source. Crickets are gone, but now another noise has reared its ugly head
