Another *Joy-ous* call from the Stealership !!!

Brought the '02 3.0i in yesterday with some ticking issues.......... hard right........... tick, tick, tick............... and the speed related ....... tick, tick, tick that sounds like it's coming from the middle of the dash.

Call this morning......... Sir, we're not really sure what's causing the hard right ticking noise......... can't hear the other noise, but of you replace the following, it may (or may not) solve the problem. And we can't guarantee anything cause we really couldn't put our finger on it  So what would you like to do ?!?!??!

Front thrust arms have some play - $596 parts, $187 labour
Front lower control arms has some play - $302 parts, $75 labour
Rear left and righ trailing arms have some play - $830 parts, $300 labour

And, your brakes need doing all the way around (rotors and pads) - $893

AND..... that ticking may be coming from the hand brake mechanism so if we do the brakes, he'll check that....... and replace if necessary (left and right) - $190 parts, $125 labour

Uhmmmmmmmmm, yeah. Anyways, brakes are getting done. Check the hand brake. Rest of it I can live with for now I think. And for the record, this honey's maintenance is all 100% done............. 140K km. What's that....... about 90K miles.

well... the brakes portion may have been reasonable priced (for the dealer!)

I got the FRONT brakes done yeasterday. I must say I was impressed with the service (valet, shuttle service, coffee and pastries, etc.) But $890 for the front only!
Thankfully, I had a couple weeks left under warranty. I guess someone has to pay for all the extras...

Sounds like the local dealer trying to tell me my radio static was caused by a defective radio receiver. Turns out, the little antenna box under the rear hatch had a loose wire. Glad I didn't pony up the grand or so for that job.
