Give me my black window trim back!
OK ... I bought my X a month ago. It was well taken care of but the window trim looks HORRIBLE. I have done my research on it and know that it is anodized aluminum and it is "suposidly" cleanable. I have used everything from Amonia to wax to a rubbing compound on an orbital buffer. It STILL looks like crap.
Has anyone found a "Cure-all" solution? I am thinking of claybaring it to see if that helps and if it doesn't I'm going to paint the pillars gloss black and do the window trim in matte black. :dunno: |
Idk how bad of shape mine were in comparison to yours, but an orbital buffer with some polishing wax did the trick, followed by a nice coat of clear coat wax. (I used the Meguiar's deep crystal system...) I had waxed them prior to that and they still looked bad, but the buffer seemed to get rid of whatever impurities were turning it colors. Hope that helps!

you can get some polish and clean it all up, its a known problem.
pick up einszett paint or menzerna super finish and by hand you can polish them out. it will however come back over time. so you will have to keep on top of it. |
take all off and have them resprayed gloss black and it will be a permanent fix!

^thats what I'm thinking... how do you remove them?

Do either of these products last longer than the other and are either of them easier on the finish than the other? |
