Finally! lowered pics today

Finally picked her up. had some trouble with the rear sensor rods but shes finally lowered. she is a little on the stiff side when hitting something serious in the road but other than that she feels unbelievable!! the cornering has improved and she handles so much better with a 3.5" drop.

Nice drop. What kind of springs are those?

mrbmwx5 08-05-2009 11:15 AM

He went with KW coilovers (V3)

Zridder19 08-05-2009 12:43 PM

You are just on KW's in the front right? Bags in the rear?

yes. the air bags can be set low but you have to be careful its not too low or you bounce..than you could blow your airbag.

explicitdwk 08-05-2009 04:51 PM

wow, nice drop

Zridder19 08-05-2009 05:05 PM

Ahh I see, I have yet to see a 3.0 slammed on coilovers... Richirich has them all around I believe but havent seen any side shots...

BMWX54.4 08-06-2009 02:01 AM

Looks great. Who's rear links did you use to trick the air bags? I've lowered mine with the H&R front coil springs and the adjustable rear links but I've broken two of the links in the past year. Probably winter crud getting in the heim joint and causing problems but now I just carry a spare.

Here's mine, modest drop. 1" front 1.25" rear. Plain old 4.4 with the 4.8is rear flares and running boards, and 25mm H&R spacers behind the rear wheels. Didn't want to go much lower in the rear since I tow my track car a lot, and run close to 600lbs tongue weight. Still tows like a champ.

Weasel 08-06-2009 12:50 PM

He had it lowered at a shop using a GT1 tester, just reset the normal height level through the air suspension computer. You can ask him,Jose (twinspoppa) or me for details as I gave them the info needed to do it.

I assume this requires access to the factory tool and software? Why can't we get the software to load on a laptop like I can with Audi VAG software? I have the software and can raise and lower the suspension on an Audi allroad via my laptop in about 5 minutes. And reprogram my sound system, change park sensor volume and pitch, control the windows via the remote etc. There's no way my dealer is going to allow changing the ride height. That's why I went with the shortened/ threaded adjustable H&R links for the rear, it didn't require programming.

Weasel 08-06-2009 02:20 PM

That's what Jose (twinspoppa) has, the GT1 software setup on a GT1 and diagnostic heads/cables etc. He has 4 wheel air and lowered his via the GT1 laptop.

I know a few members on here bought the laptop GT1s from the same company, but don't remember everyone who got one.

Here's Jose's thread with all kinds of info on it.
