How to remove interior door handle ?

is there a factory direction to remove the interior door handles front and rear? My door handles are worn out on the side with probably nail scratch and just ordered the handles. do I need to open the whole door trim?

I cannot tell you 100% for specifically changing the door handles but i do no to open the doors interior side there are 2 sorta hidden screws. One of them is hidden behind a small cap under the doors handle and the other one is behind the interior trip cap, you need to sorta pop it out with a screw driver and then your going to see the screw.

Sorry if i couldn't be much of assistance....

good luck! =)

to change doo handle,l you haev to remove door panel.
Try search to find "how to remove door panel".
There is 3 screws: under wood-titanium trim (remove carefully), under airbag clip and above a pocket. than pullout a panel with flat screwdrive, begin from buttom

You guys aren't talking about the long silver top covers for door pullers are you? Those pop right off without taking the whole car appart. I recently repainted mine without buyng new ones and they look great.

Hi Artriga, the part on mine that is scratched is the black handle the top cover attaches too. It has a "rubber" feel to the paint and that has scratched off due to rings etc.

I see, well those you do have to take door panel off. Or... mine were schrached to the point that the rubbery layer was nearly gone, so I rubbed what was left of it off with a strong cleaner and my own elbow greese.
Now they are all shiny and black.

Hello, good question, the alternative to replacing the interior door handles in bmw x5 e53 is to wrap them with high-quality leather, this way you can save money and time as it is way easier to wrap them with leather rather than replace them. I once used these covers from here BMW X5 E53 Interior Door Handle Leather Covers
Easy installation shown in this video:

This is how it looks like:

Hope that helps someone.
