TV screen all dark - brightness option?
Hi guys, my 2002 X5 TV screen seems to be working perfectly, but I struggle to see what's on the screen because it is all so dark. The TV, menus and sat nav are all the same. In sunlight I can see whats on the screen, but when it gets dark, I struggle to see anything. Is there an option to adjust brightness (just to check that its not that)? Or is it likely to be a ribbon, or TV module problem??
Any comments gratefully received! :) |
TV screen all dark - brightness option?
Try this post. I had same problem a few weeks back after buying new Nav unit off of ebay. It looks/ sounds more complicated than it actually is but I now have a unit I can view in all light conditions.
Adjusting 16x9 BoardMonitor (Very Long) Hope this helps. |

TV screen all dark - brightness option?
I had a unit from an 5 series that would have been viewed from a higher angle in the car so it was very dark. The screws that adjust the screen do all sorts of things to the screen - brightness, contrast, saturation, angle, so make sure you note down the original settings before you play around with them. Turning some seems to have little effect at all while others make significant change. Haven't yet seen a post where someone explains which screw does what - its a bit of trial and error.

Well, followed the how to, and I have to say it was comprehensive and easy to follow. I did manage to make some improvement to the display, but the major problem still remains. In the dark, i.e. at night, I can't see anything on the screen, unless I shine a flashlight on the screen, in which case it's perfect, but the girlfriend aint gonna be happy having to hold a flashlight at the screen all the time! In the daytime, it is perfect when the sun shines on the screen. Does anybody know if there is a back light to the screen?
