I do think black wheels look good on a black car, but I am digging it with the black/blue combo....some folks love'em though.
|
I like 7 series next to it :-)
|
I'm gonna be waiting for the sound clip/youtube vid of the exhaust...!
You might even be able to get the hyper blue bulbs at autozone or pepboys, though hyperblue ain't my style. Must match to original: 28.54 / 8.26 watts, clear, wedge base, style 3457/3557LL |

:iagree:the whole theme of the car when i bought it was black/blue so i kept it like that and i love what i did. will get better pictures and a sound clip of the exhaust this weekend. |

i tryed to get hyper blue at autozone and pepboys and no luck but the only reason i am going hyper blue is because the car is blue but idk:dunno: and thanks for the help. |
nice mods. i do have a suggestion though. i think the only problem with the looks are the headlight. even though my X have those headlights i am thinking about switching it to maybe a bit modern and losing the waffle look
|
I think clearing out the headlights and putting the chrome/amber invisibulbs would look great on her... Here's what I did to mine, just imagine it with clear lenses for the extra clean look. As long as your headlights are made before 10/02 they can be opened and modded.

Parents car?? My parents can't drive. So they dont drive. Why are you mad your driving the OLD 7-series and i'm driving the new 7-series??? |
I wouldn't call the 745 new... just newer. The 750's are a bit more reliable. But the "new" 7 series is the F01/F02 and is a whole nother beast.
|
Quote:
Yes i know that. I just mean newer than his 740il |
Yeah, but his 740il has internal performance work done to his non-valvetronic engine that makes it pretty damn nice in my book, and that body style will never have MOST bus problems.

go 740i or go home...

My other reason for choosing an E38 bodystyle is that a lot of people, including myself, aren't fans on the Bangle designs. I actually take a liking to more boxy, hard edged cars as opposed to rounded off edges...the X5 being an exception. Once I see cars become mainstream, dime a dozen cars used in rap videos, rental cars, etc. (300c, 745Li, Range Rover) then i'm out. It's just personal preference. Quote:

Spacers and some tint and visiting my body shop guy, like we discussed on PM, will make your X one of a kind! Great job. Keep it going.
And yes, we need a video clip of the exhaust in action. :) |
He posted a video on another thread.
http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...-mufflers.html YouTube - TheMrV8's Channel To be honest, it doesn't sound bad for a $17 muffler IMHO. The spacing around the tips is terrible and the bend before it enters the muffler can't be good for performance either, but it works. |
iL...the girls like it long and hard, not all soft and round like the Li [/QUOTE]
If you are smart enough, 745LI L standing for LONGGGGGGGGGGGG and the i would take my 745LI over your 740il ANYDAY with your mods too. |

Smart enough? An iL and an Li are both long wheels bases  To be completely honest, your Li wouldn't even touch my car...I know that for a FACT my friend. |

YouTube - BMW 2001 740i sport vs 1998 740iL bavengine - you mean this one? I don't know who's page this is, but the original video is like 7 min long. EDIT - Make that 4 minutes. This is the best one I can find. Luxo barges Video by ///M5 James - MySpace Video I can't seem to find it on YouTube, but then again I'm not sure if it even is. Ahh the goodtimes I had in Seattle...that had to be like 5-6yrs ago! That was new motor down in Tacoma area where the new motor was installed, pre-intake and exhaust, tuning, diff, etc. Break in time, what break in time. Here's one pre-motor rebuild YouTube - November 2005 Seattle DTM Meet You can see me at the 48 sec mark. |

do you live in brooklyn? that place looks sooo familiar...

Damn James, I expected a hair more from ya. Of course I expected the 400+hp M5 to walk ya, but the stock 740i sport was right there with you the whole time... The engine is built for boost, but you haven't added it yet! Why the wait? Throw on a SC and have the prequel to the alpina B7!

lol do work son 22s son good job man

You guys have to end this. BMWX54.4 you were VERY wrong for posting that thread about M5james. So i dont blame him for being pretty mad. Especially since you are alot younger than him.. if you had a problem with him you should have PMed him and worked it out in a civilized manner instead of attacking him. your acting like a 6th grader on myspace. |

I haven't added it due to moving from Seattle to Boise, buying a house, vacations w/ the kids, yada yada yada. I keep looking at it, but then it's like I'm back and forth between the 7, the X and the bike lately. My ADHD, OCD, ABCDEFG seems to get the best of me! I've driven a B7 when I went to BMW of Bellevue while my buddy was buying an E39 M5. The B7's a beast for a large car, but I'm confident i'll be walking it once I finish...but is it ever really finished  Oh yeah, don't expect too much hair from me:cool: |
m5james are there any pics of your 91 M5 up? I love that style...

I love it too...just wish the headlights were a little more updated looking. I had totaled an RX7TT before I went shopping for a replacement. I drove a C36 AMG at the time, then saw this little bimmer hiding off in the corner. I had literally never heard of M5's, and since there was like 6yrs where they weren't made, so at the time I wasn't surprised I never heard of it. Driving it was like night and day to the RX off the line, but the highway...ohh the highway. I've learned how to do the most obnoxious and stupid things w/ that car. Power braking, sliding out the end (not quite drifting, but fun enough). When I was w/ my buddy to buy his M5 (same time I drove the B7), we had went to the gas station after he made the purchase. I still remember doing the sickest rolling burnout (flame suit on) coming in from the back of the gas station parking lot, up a slight incline to the pump, through the covered pump station, and back out on the street. He called me like 2 minutes later, just rolling because the guy at the station came out and yelled at him. The things we do to impress girls  |

here it is... i miss her. Btw the rims were put on by the next owner, we keep in touch. i'm happy it went to someone who appreciates it. it only had 75K on the clock when i sold it
|
Thank you. It's hands down, the best car i've ever purchased. 187k, trans has a little 2-1 synchro problem, but it runs like a champ and never complains.
Funny you say that, I'm actually browsing Crazedlist.org now for E30's, but then I keep thinking...I still haven't finished what i've started w/ my current rigs! I ALMOST did a driveway for this lady w/ a pristine 320i in exchange for payment, but just couldn't bring myself to doing...my CCR's are so strict, which I appreciate. EDIT - Oops...94 is still E36. Dee dee dee! My mother loves driving my M5, but she finally brokedown and bought herself a 97 328ci 5spd w/ only 48k on it. I told her if she ever wants to get rid of it, I'm so taking it from her. I'd turbo the bejesus out of it! www.bmwturbo328.com. I wish they made the 98 728iL's here in the states...it would have been soooo much cheaper and easier to FI compared to the V8. |
