OEM filters. API SM synthetic oil in the approved weight.

:rofl: ... :thumbup:

Search Tab must only be visible or "work", for Preimer Members. ;)

With something as important to the engine as oil, and the filtering of said oil... Why risk it with anything less than what is proven to be the best option?

:iagree:Like Weasel said, I use BMW filters ONLY!!!!! I have been driving BMWs since 1991 and have never had major engine failure or the engine die before something happening to the car..... My BMWs have always ran strong without any of the nightmares I read on this forum, and I have driven 3 over 300K miles so I stand by my BMW oil filters, always used them, always will.

don't use stp filter or any other after market filters & if u do after couple oil changes u gonna end up replacing the whole oil housing ($300+) happened to me due of lack of knowledge on the previous owner of my X:stickpoke... why don't u just spend extra $5 and safe u the headache on the outcome..;)

So, since I had nine posts in those threads, I have nothing to add. Darn, I thought we were going to get to discuss oil and filters.

:rofl: Everytime I bother to post in an oil thread, I typically include a link to a thread where you have posted multiple times. I should probably back off and give you a chance to respond for yourself.

No, carry on. It was a good link. I can't go back and find them all. :thumbup:

:iagree:...I have BM'd a dozen info links, mostly author'd by JCL, Weasel,
FSETH, the Cleaner, et al.

Or, I find them in search. Maybe only a few of us know how to make
the Search Tab work. ;)

The residuals checks are in the mail, the Admins tell me... :rofl:

Just curious;

What evidence did the salesman at autozone give
that convinced you that an STP filter would be a better product?

aaron0558 08-17-2009 08:04 AM

The salesman never said the stp was better, just said it would be good enough. I was in a hurry and didn't feel like making an extra trip to the dealer. Needless to say, the mahle it is going to be! tks for the input. In reference to gc0w-30, doesn't Increased flow = better lubrication at start-up, regardless of temp. outside? It's a 30 wt. at operating temp. From what I've read and for every ten opinions I recieve about this oil, there is always someone who scares me to death that I'm using it.

What is the API rating on the oil you purchased?
