Any TIPS Before I remove the door panels
 

Articles look pretty straightforward, etc.

Phase 1 of Audio Mods is about to begin - sound deading the whole truck. Doors and Trunk for now. Floor Panel will begin when the cables are being run.

use a real upholstry tool to remove the clips.. it'll save those push in clips and not scratch anything either...

Gawd freaking dammit...What to do, what do to. I was planning to possibly junk the factory foam and do 2-3X of sound deading layer and seal up those doors.
I guess I'll have to call up tomorrow and scale down my order of 80sq ft of sound deading.

Hindsight vs. foresight, looks like I'm going to need access to those pesky window regulators though.

The last time I needed to get behind the door panel, I actually found that using hair dryer worked best for softening up the sticky tar-like substance on any foam pieces as I was removing them. I also reheated the sticky substance as I put the foam pieces back in place and it works like a charm. Good luck on the audio upgrade. :thumbup:

If this is your first time, my advice is to pay close attention to the LED light when removing the door panel. It's the small light that lights up the door handle area. It's tough to see and easy to break and I don't think it's mentioned in any of the otherwise excellent articles explaining how to dismantle the door panel (if it is I missed it and learned the hard way). Once you get the panel loose at the bottom you'll have to reach up between the panel and the now exposed foam and find the wire near the door handle. The light plugs in facing the opposite direction from what you see behind the interior handle. It plugs into a clear plastic piece that works kind of like fiber optics to carry the light from the direction it faces to what you see before the panel is removed.

As for the suggestions on removing the foam, I haven't tried the other suggestions, but I used a small sharp razor to carefully cut the bead without cutting the foam. When I replaced the foam I simply stuck the foam panel back in place and applied pressure along the length of the bead which seemed to work great.
