CD Changer Delimma.. would appreicate your advice
I got my wife an 06 X5 this weekend. Did a ton of reading on here. It has a Nav system IV 27software (might update this to ver. 32), with no DSP (for this kind of car expected a much better sounding system, even though it's not the DSP version). Anyway, it didn't come with a CD changer, and I can easily get one from ebay. I have the 3 pin IBUS and 6pin adapter in the back ready to go. The dilemma is that my wife would like to have XM, or Sirius as she did in her old car. From my reading here, seems like the easiest and cheapest solution would be to get an Intravee II, get an alpine CD changer, and get a Sirius Adatper as well. She doesn't really care about hooking up her Iphone, but CD's are a must. What I need to know is, what CD chagners can I use with the Intravee? Any model Ainet Alpine CD Changers? And also any Alpine Ainet Sirius adapters as well that I see on ebay, or specific models? How would you select between devices on the Intravee menu? Also, going with the Intravee, how does that effect the nav screen display? Can you play songs, and switch away from the Intravee screen, and go to the full Nav map display? Any advice, would be appreicated.
Thanks in advance.. |
The other question is, with this setup, does it effect bluetooth at all? So when I get a call, will it still interupt music? Thanks again

I too am interested in the intravee specifically for the iPod and XM/Sirius functionality.
I currently have the Mark IV nav with DSP and factory CD changer. Is it possible to add the intravee and retain the factory CD changer ? Thanks. |
You can't keep the BMW CD Changer, but you can use an Alpine CD Changer with the Intravee, the CHA-S634 is MP3 capable and is physically the same size as the BMW changer so you can use the same brackets. If you want more than one CD Changer type device (CHA-S634, KCA-420i iPod interface etc) then you also need an AI-Net switch.
Have a look at the FAQ on the Intravee forum, most things are covered : Forum FAQ : FAQ Existing CD Changer: Can I use my original BMW or Rover CD Changer with the Intravee? Connection: How does the Intravee connect up to a BMW, Mini or Range Rover? |
