Unusual window/door handle prob. Help please..

Could somebody please help me with what seems to be a one off problem with the dreaded window regulator. This time it's the drivers door.

So the window regulator ceases to cooperate (yesterday) and I find myself driving around with the window all the way down. No biggy I figure, I'll fix it first day off work (today).
This morning I did a quick errand and when I did, the drivers side door handle also decided to cease working. It's sort of stuck in a weird position with it sticking out somewhat.

So here's where the 'No biggy' turns bad. I now can't open the door to remove the trim re access to reg. Anybody else experience this?? and if so, what the heck did you do to open the door with a faulty door handle.

In advance thank you.

Hold the phone. The rotten handle has now decided to play ball, it has returned to it's normal position (after climbing over the console and going for a drive).
Hope nothing scraped the tint. The door handle carrier seemed to be related to or interfered with, by the faulty regulator issue.

the part that holds the glass to the window regulator has broken, this causes the window to shift at an angle, if the outside door handle is out a little, push it in like your pumping it, and it will eventually release. if you cannot roll the window up to change the regulator, remove the window guide closest to the b-pillar and help the window up the channel. remove the glass and replace the window regulator. chances are, the door handle carrier is ok.

Thanks mate,
What you say makes sense and highly likely that's what happened.

After mulling over it I decided to get my aftermarket warranty out and read the fine print, clauses, sub clauses, items covered/not covered etc. It turns out my warranty will only cover window motors and not the dreaded and well documented ill fated regulators. Smart lot these insurance dudes, eh?

Well at least the door opens now, so I can get to and make good.
