Vibration

Hi

I've noticed a strange vibration to happen in my X5 when driving at slow speeds. It always happens with the same pattern: when slowing down in crossings there's 2nd gear on and I take my foot off the throttle pedal. Then after I press throttle slightly, the car starts to vibrate for 2-3 seconds. The vibration stops when the speed increases. You have any idea what's the reason for the peculiar vibration.

My car is a '03 X5 4.4i.

Could be one of a number of things, like slack/wear in the drivetrain components mounting, shuddering from worn friction materials/hydrolic pressure leak internal in the transmission, etc. You would be best served to bring it in for professional diagnosis and maybe take someone there (like the foreman or tech) on a quick ride to show them the exact conditions of the complaint.

Hi
Thanks for the info. I need to mention in the next service about it. Anyway, it is easy to reproduce the failure: slow speed & just a slight throttle => vibration.

Hi pvoltti, Just wondering if you had any update on this problem, I too am experiencing a similar vibration under the same circumstance with my 03 4.4L but only occasionally and as you stated only when accelerating under a slight throttle while driving. I had it serviced and they did not find any fault codes in engine or transmission and did not replicate it at the time of service.
