Remote Engine starter -Winter in NY :-)

Early morning the Temp gauge shows 57F... The sucky weather will start in the next few weeks.

What do u folks suggest for a Remote starter system?

Any good installer in NY that the x5 members can vouch for??

I suggest using the search function...there's been a number of discussions and debates on the subject.

Sounds like something i will need in the near future. Up here in Ithaca it isnt quite the nicest weather

I feel your pain brotha, I used to live in Jersey and winters are not the X5's best friend, seems like I always had some kind of issue when it was cold out.

No need for Idle....just get in start the car, buckle up....adjust the radio and drive off.

IF it's bad enough outside, start the car, run the defrosters...and by the time you are done doing whatever shoveling you need to do, the X is good to go.

No need for a Remote Start IMO.

maybe if the remote starter could also start the heated steering wheel and seats

Before I got the X i also wanted remote start but to be honest with you I really dont feel comfy leaving the X5 at night with another key locked inside. A few other reasons is that I dont want to risk issues with codes and cluster errors poping up as I have read before on the board others have had after they install it.

To be honest when its getting really cold in the winter simply start up the X as normal, turn up the steering wheel heat, seat heats, defoggers and then go outside of the X, shovel if there is shoveling needed, if not then just try and keep warm in the X til you both warm up.

It's not about "need". I don't "need" heated seats, 300+ hp, 19" wheels, anthracite headliner, or much of the other things that make up my vehicle's lofty price tag. But my wife really likes a toasty car when the temps drop below freezing. So she'll get it........hopefully.

As for the extra key in the vehicle.....it's hidden away and pretty much innaccesible to a thief as the alarm is blaring away.

Yeah but once a thief has access to that key he can disable the blaring alarm and drive off easily...

Of course. However, he would have to know where it's hidden.
