Automatic sunroof closer
Hi Guys
I was wondering if anyone's seen a mod that will automatically close the panoramic sunroof when the car is locked. I realise if you hold the lock button on the keyring down long enough, it will close the sunroof etc. What I need is something that will close the sunroof automatically. The reason I need this, is that I often forget to close the sunroof (remember to lock the car). I'm also too short to see if the roof is open from outside the car, and with window tint, it's hard to tell from outside if the roof has been closed. The other day it rained and some water got in the car. The ideal gadget for me, would be something that uses the wiper rain sensor, and if it detects rain and notices the sunroof open with the car parked/off, automatically closes it. I am starting to look at the iBus stuff, and have Navcoder and reslers iBus <-> USB adapter. I'm also thinking of putting an EEPC in the wheel well to do this, and things like serve up mp3's, and nav (I have TV screen, but no satnav). Anyway, has anyone looked at doing an automatic sunroof closer for an E53? Cheers +thanks, Scott. |
Thats interesting, I can only open the windows and pano roof from the remote but I can't close them. I have to do that physically from the car itself. What kind extras do you have?
|
Hmm,
No extras that I know of. 2005 3.0d (Australian Version). You hold down the lock key fob button for a long time (maybe 30 seconds) and it closes the sunroof + windows. I just keep forgetting to close the roof. Doh... Nothing out there that can help me? Cheers Scott. |

oztme, What a good idea that is, to have an auto close sunroof and possibly in sync with the rain sensor. |
I am sure my 2002 X5 has the safety system whereby the windows and sunroof will roll back open if they are closed against an object . the sensor is built into rubber strips . i tested this on my E38 with my hands but on one window i folded my fingers over the window so did not make contact with the sensor and as a result had sore knuckles for a while .
