Noob to Xoutpost. Herrow
Hello people I'm a new guy to xoutpost.
http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s...0217091341.jpg http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s...217091341a.jpg Just picked up a New (to me) 01 X5 3.0 Lovin the hell outta it. I only have one problem with the car... The headlights are very hazy. Is there a place that sells replacement lenses? Has anyone else had bmws all their lives? I've had 2 other BMWs before the X. Here's a couple pics... http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s...Noob/mye30.jpg http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s...b/100_1306.jpg http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s...b/PICT1021.jpg http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s...ict2258ur9.jpg http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s...b/PICT2387.jpg |
No experince with cleaning or replacing, but here's a couple of DIY links on
polish jobs: http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...scratches.html http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...ight-haze.html If the haze is due to condensation inside the lens cover, that is an R&R job. All above found via the handy Search Tab, upper right of page site. Welcome to the Board... Good Luck, mD |

Welcome BimmerNoob!
I have an e36 325i that I have had for 8 years and 200k miles (car now has 298k). I also had an e30 318i and e30 325e. I had an Acura Integra for about 4 weeks in 1998, but missed my first e30 so bad I bought another and sold the Acura. All together, in 15 years of driving, that was my only car that wasn't a BMW. Love the photos of the cars you have. Not personally digging the wheels on the e30, but clean and great looking car never the less. I think I had a post in one of the threads MD posted, but here is a direct link; http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...ight-lens.html Once again, I agree with MD that it depends on whether it is haze on the outside of the lens or fog on the inside. If it is indeed haze on the outside, take a look at the product I used. It is holding up pretty well so far. You can see my before and after photos in the above link. Good luck either way. |
Based on info from a Mustang site years ago, I used Mother's Mag Wheel Polish. If the haze is really bad, WET sanding with 1500 grit sandpaper first, then the polish and then wax, will make them look new again. Our X5 only needed the polish and they look amazing.
