Headlight Gurus...please help

5 Attachment(s)
Hi,

I recently decided to update my stock 2001 E53 with projector halos. No big deal right! Well, the new headlights have a few additional power connectors than what is currently on my vehicle. I am hoping that someone can tell me what I have signed myself up for. Please see the attached images. Thank you in advance.

#1 is for headlight leveling
#2 is for the angel eyes
#3 is the ground for the HID ballast

- i'm pretty sure on these but someone else can chime in and correct me-

Checks out! Not sure how the AE's should connect to that plug though. That ground cable connects to a small T20 Hex screw, which also screws down the clamp which holds your HID ballast tight. The headlight leveling should be plug and play.

sorry to hijack, but I'm trying to put together a group buy for similar headlights. Check out the group buy section to see.

I bought the headlights from ebay. Seller is ParasiteSingle. Here is the link.

I have the same headlights.....good find since they are discontinued....

You only need to be concerned with the low beam HID connector....high beam connector and there should be wiring for your Angel EYes.....

none of these are ever plug and play......it seems as though you are missing the wiring harness for the AE"s??? Are these projectors equipped with HID's or are u still running halogen????

Also you need a fused relay for your AE's???

Were these the ccfl headlights being sold for like 300 400 bucks... these may not be fully equipped with everything you need.

You will notice that I have the same housing, but my innerds are all HID and CCFL upgraded....paid bout 1000.00 for everything.....including ballasts....(you need ballasts also...

These were just taken last weekend at the Fall Tristate meet kourtezy of the KYZ!!!

I have these same headlights.

They DO have the AE ballasts included in mine (they are inside the housing beneath the low beam). I confirmed this just recently.
You still need the external fused relay wiring for the angel eyes, and a connector to mate to the two pin connector in your photo. I have not found the appropriate connector yet. My 2002 X5 did not have factory wiring for AE.

The low beam connector on these headlights is for the halogen lamp it comes with. If you want to upgrade to HID xenon, you'll need to open the lights and buy the xenon upgrade harness, ballasts, and relays. The ground strap is connected internally to the low beam housing, presumably for an HID setup.

The auto leveling connector does not go to anything inside. The motors are not there in these headlights. The connector is there in case you already have the auto level motors to install into the headlight. If you open these babies up you'll see a static post which hold the bottom position of the headlights for aiming.

Thanks guys. I think I understand what I need to do. I will go home and confirm that AE ballasts are included and then see if I can find the fuse relay wiring for the AE with the 2 pin connectors locally. I love how they look on your vehicle. So my goal is to get them working this weekend. I will keep you posted.

Is there an update on this? I just received this headlights today and I also was having issues with the AE plugs. I didn't receive no ballast and it wasnt inside the housing. Can someone help me get the AEs to work. Thanks
