Speakers not working/working intermittently
Hello all. First time post so be gentle! I have recently purchased a 2004 3.0i Sport for my better half and there appears to be an issue with the sound system. Sound sometimes comes out of all speakers when the car is started, but then quickly changes to only come out of one speaker. The car is fitted with the in-built Sat Nav. I have tried to search all previous posts to see if there is any type of history to this problem but cannot find one. I have checked the balance/fade settings. Any help would be appreciated!

seems like the amp channel blown check which amp you should be i thinks a bm54 unit which is not cheap. I have the same problem with my bmw x5 2005 model right hand speaker next to steering wheel cuts out.if anybody out there knows a fix for this please tell

If it comes on and off alot it can be faulty wiring. In my opinion you should open up the trunk of the X and see if the sound is coming out of all the speakers, If not then try playing around with the rubber wiring between the trunk and the X5. If thats not it then check around the wiring if its constant and you feel it cant be the wiring then it has to be your amp.

Thank you both. I have had the Amp unit checked and it is unfortunately that! Just looking for either a replacement from a salvage or someone who can look at the circuit boards now.

unfortunately here is where you are stuck. If you want you can start to mod up your speakers by upgrading a crazy nice amp with a sub woofer and upgrading your speakers, this entire job will make your X sound amazing but only downside is how much your going to have to spend on it. If you DIY its going to cost around 1100 for anything close to decent.
I never had these installed but people say great things: X5 Subwoofer / Sub System for BMW X5 | BSW Or if you want to go with the cheapest way, honestly go check Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market for a used AMP for your X in your area. Good luck! |
