Anyone know how to reset the self leveling suspension?
Like is there a override method? I think my computer is bonkers.... (2001)
Maybe I can just unplug my battery and let it run a self diag? http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...tml#post667068 |
It looks like you are Fooked! I did some research and even the BMW shade tree experts are suggesting to se the dealer and to not let anyone but a certified tech deal with this... Do you know any BMW techs that you could entice with a little beer or something?

You will need a GT1 DIS (or take your ride to Palo Alto BMW if you don't want to get scraped across the rocks at the dealer).

the WEIRDEST thing. after "rebooting" by disconnecting the battery, the car stayed high and the warning was still there. then driving for maybe 20 minutes, it actually went back to normal? and now, it's BEEN normal.
i think the battery disconnect reset the sensors? WOOHOO! more to report if it comes back. |
I went to an indie mechanic Friday for my rear air shocks they diagnosed the problem for free but wouldnt work on it because they didnt have the self leveling computer. They sent me directly to the dealership.

Hey Ike, is it still reset to stock?

i recommend unplugging the car from the battery. chill for 15 minutes. reattach and see what happens. it worked for me and has been ok ever since. i think my onboard comp just got confused. hey, it's an 2001. it can happen. |
Thanks for the reply. I had BMW Encinitas lower my rear a bit to match the front of the car as I have eibach springs installed and they charged me a bit to do it. So I guess I can put it back to stock myself :)

Hey ... i have x5 4.8is .... I got the car from Encinitas as well just 4 days ago. I was already aware that car has this problem, dealer told me 60 day warranty will cover that with no problem. They already have inspected that and fixed i guess, because when i got the car from dealer it was OK, SELF LEVEL was working and no warning.. I have been driving the car for 3 days, went to the car and WARNING CAME ON again. height on the car is normal , self level is not responding when push a button. I live 30 min from them, one of the reasons i dont want go back. Will battery unplugging work for my car you think ? or i should take it to dealer and kind of be pissed of and let them deal with it ONE TIME AND THATS IT ?
