Battery - how to cut off?
Ok, dumb question - but I want to try to reset something.
How do I cut off the battery? I see the red wire right below the wiper under the hood. Is there another way other than disconnecting it there? Or is that the only option? And if I do disconnect how long do I need to wait until I can get the computer to completely reset? Is it instantaneous or is there a reserve? This has to to do with a self leveling inactive issue and I hope by resetting the computer it will fix my problem. http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...uper-high.html Thanks!!! |
Only way to disconnect power to the entire car is at the battery terminal, which is (ironically for you) under the air suspension pump (under the spare tire).

do i need to wait a bit or can i just take it off and put it back on? |
You should wait 15 to 30 minutes for everything to completely discharge. Longer if your aftermarket system have additional capacitors, amps, etc...

the WEIRDEST thing. after "rebooting" by disconnecting the battery, the car stayed high and the warning was still there. then driving for maybe 20 minutes, it actually went back to normal? and now, it's BEEN normal.
i think the battery disconnect reset the sensors? WOOHOO! more to report if it comes back. |
