Cost of Fluid Change at Indy shops?
Hey Guys....
A potential buyer for my Car,has asked me if my fluids were changed recently.I didn't want to lie and say yes,so i said i didn't know. Nw he is asking if i would be willing to do that... My Question is, Has anyone here changed their Tranny fluid, diff and TC fluid? How much did that cost you? Thanx! |
Probably around $250 + off the top at $99 hr. Not including materials...
I would not do it.....what is things go iffy after fluid change. Have have change it or word it accordingly and just *negotiate* it into the price if it's a deal breaker |
Dealer wanted to charge me $400+ just for a tranny flush

Fluid Change
The transmission flush is expensive, it involves a gasket and a filter. I paid around 400+ to have that done at the dealer based on their $140 rate and parts. I think a indy would probably charge 3-4 hundred for all the fluids plus all the parts which would vary depending if you use all OEM BMW branded parts or equivalents which applies to the fluids also.

Why not just provide your potential buyer a $600 discount and ask him to do the maintenance on his own (if he so desired) and call it the day? |

Where did you get yours done? Well the reason i want to do it is because im thinking someone else might ask for it as well,so maybe it is a good selling point. Did your car behave differently after all the fluid change? Why would chef wong say that things may go wrong after the fluid change? |

Any car buyer who is going to inquire about fluids probably has a INDY they trust. IMO, there is no benefit in doing this $$$ on a car you are planning to unload. You may recoup your cost, your may not.
If you have not been ontop of your fluid changes, IMO, I would not even touch the tranny... It's your money and your call, but like I said, if the fluid maint. is a deal breaker, absorb the cost in the selling price |
Tell him that the fluid is "lifetime" and show him the manual to prove it. Tell him that BMW highly recommneds not touching it and that "since you are stringent about proper maintenance in accordance with manufacturer reccomendations", you left it alone. I highly doubt that this would be a deal breaker. Assure him that you followed all proper maintenance intervals and call it a day.

The car feels the same after the service as it should. The fluids were very black, but the transmission pan was rather clean when I did the change at about 50k miles. I'm at about 62K miles right now with no issue and everything is still running very smoothly, if not better than when it was new. I might do it again when it hits 100k, but only if I decide to plan on keeping the car past 150k. |
